1. Who We Are

iSOLObalboa is an online Solo Balboa dance school owned and operated by Olga Marina, a sole trader based in Sweden.

As a business established in Sweden and operating within the European Union, we are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Swedish data protection law.

2. What Personal Data We Collect and Why

2.1 Account Registration

When you create an account, we collect the following information:

  • Name and email address — to set up and manage your membership, send login credentials, and communicate with you about your subscription.
  • Postal address (country, postal code, street) — required for billing and VAT compliance purposes only. We do not use your address for any other purpose, and it is never used for postal marketing.
  • Primary dance role (leader or follower) — to help personalise your experience and course recommendations on the platform.
  • How you found out about iSOLObalboa — collected for internal statistical purposes to understand how new members discover the school. This data is used only in aggregate and is never shared with third parties.

Legal basis: Contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) for name, email and address; legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR) for address used in VAT compliance; legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) for dance role and referral source.

2.2 Payment Information

When you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by our third-party payment providers Stripe and PayPal. We do not store or have access to your credit or debit card details — these are handled directly and securely by the payment provider.

We do retain a record of the transaction (amount, date, plan purchased) for accounting and legal compliance purposes.

Legal basis: Contract performance and legal obligation (Article 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR).

2.3 Contact Forms

When you submit a message via our contact form, we collect your name and email address, along with the content of your message. This is used solely to respond to your enquiry.

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

2.4 Communications

If you are a subscriber, we may send you emails relating to your membership (renewal reminders, account updates, important policy changes). With your consent, we may also send you occasional news, offers, and updates from Olga.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us at isolobalboa@gmail.com. Transactional emails (e.g. payment confirmations, account notices) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

Legal basis: Consent for marketing communications (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); legitimate interests for transactional emails (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

2.5 Solo Bal Circle (Telegram Community)

If you choose to join the Solo Bal Circle, our private Telegram channel, you do so voluntarily. Participation requires a Telegram account, which is subject to Telegram’s own privacy policy (available at telegram.org/privacy). We do not collect additional personal data through the Telegram channel beyond what you voluntarily share within it.

Legal basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

2.6 Analytics

We collect basic, anonymised usage data through our hosting provider (OVH) to understand how visitors use our website. This includes data such as pages visited and general traffic volumes. This data cannot be used to identify you individually and is not shared with any third-party analytics platforms.

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
